Reading Forbes Magazine a while back, I came across a quote that I haven’t heard of in a long time . . .
“Because the purpose of business is to create a customer, the business enterprise has two – and only two – basic functions: marketing and innovation. Marketing and innovation produce results; all the rest are costs. Marketing is the distinguishing, unique function of the business.” Peter Drucker – 1973
While nearly everything has changed in the world since that statement; it’s meaning for businesses of all sizes has not. Times are tough; and the time for businesses to innovate their offerings as well as their marketing tactics and action plans couldn’t be more eminent.

Stop and think for a moment: are you getting results for your marketing efforts that you expected?
If your answer is “nope” – what have you done differently to change the results?
Marketing and Innovation - think outside the box!

Have to think outside the box.

Thanks for the reply – and for “Liking” the post!
I have owned an ACE Hardware store for 28 years. I wish I had read this book before I started. I wasted a lot of money down through the years trying this and trying that. I should have read this book and only marketed my strengths and only in the media that was strong in my market. My shotgun approach was costly.
